HOME GYMS
Many people find the bustling atmosphere of a gym to be distracting.
A lot don’t like working out on machines that have been touched
and sweated on by countless unknown people. These are the people who
invest in home gyms.
A home gym can be as simple as a weight
bench with a benchpress stand or as complicated as a specialized
machine for each muscle grouping in your body. A body builder’s
home gym will look very different from someone who bought a leg curl
machine to rehab their leg after surgery.
Research and consultation is definitely needed to design your own home
gym. You’ve got to take into consideration how much space is available
for weight or cardio machines (or both) and what your personal fitness
goals are.
Even if you do not have a lot of space for a home
gym, there are now compact home gyms and weight benches that pack
a lot of workout potential into a small space.
If you only plan to workout 3 times a week, for 30 minutes-a-day, you
will be well off with a large one-stop weight machine and a treadmill
or elliptical for cardio training.
If you are training for the Mr. Universe competition, obviously, your
needs will be more complicated. Most body builders, though, already
know which workouts are best for them and know exactly what kind of
machine they need in their home to maintain their incredible physiques.
If you are designing your home gym on a budget, look online for deals
for equipment. Also, try calling your local gyms. Ask if they are selling
off any old equipment. This is sometimes a great way to get an awesome
deal on fitness equipment for your home.
Another popular venue to look for used fitness equipment is community
forums such as Craig’s List. More and more people are using these
community-specific forums to off-load their treasures.
When you have your fitness equipment at home, you are more likely to
use it. You do not have to commute to your home gym fitness equipment
like you do to get to a gym. You do not have look “cute”
to workout at home as you might feel you have to when you go to a gym.
Because you have no one to impress, you can focus on the workout at
hand.
